Today, I want to share with you a personal story about how I discovered the power of clary sage (Salvia sclarea), a wonderful plant that can help with menopause symptoms.
I first learned about clary sage when I was exploring natural remedies at Neals Yards Remedies, a store that sells organic health and beauty products. I was intrigued by its benefits for hormonal balance, mood, and skin health. I bought a bottle of its essential oil and loved its sweet and herbaceous aroma.
Later on, I had the opportunity to work for a very respectful horticulturalist outside Bristol, who grew clary sage in her garden. I was fascinated by the beauty of this plant, with its purple/pink flowers and velvety leaves.
Since then, I have been an advocate of clary sage and its amazing properties. I currently use it in one of my products, which is the Face and Body Oil with Anti-Aging Properties, combined with frankincense and neroli essential oils. This oil nourishes and rejuvenates the skin, while also calming the mind and easing stress.
As a 40 year old person, I myself started to notice the symptoms of peri menopause, such as hot flashes and mood swings. I cannot feel more compassion for anyone who is struggling with menopause. That’s why I want to dedicate this post to you, and offer you my support and advice.
World Menopause Day is on October 18th, and it is a day to raise awareness and celebrate the achievements of women who are going through this natural transition. It is also a day to educate ourselves and others about the best ways to cope with menopause and improve our quality of life.
One of the best ways to do that is to use natural remedies like clary sage, which can help balance our hormones, reduce inflammation, relax our muscles, and promote sleep. You can use clary sage essential oil in various ways, such as:
Diffusing it in your room or office to create a soothing atmosphere.
Adding a few drops to your bath water or massage oil to relax your body and mind.
Mixing it with your moisturizer or serum to improve your skin texture and elasticity.
Of course, you should always consult your doctor before using any essential oil, especially if you have any medical condition, are pregnant or are taking any medication. You should also do a patch test on your skin before applying it to avoid any allergic reaction.

Another natural remedy that can help with menopause symptoms and improve your sleep is magnesium. Magnesium is a mineral that is essential for many processes in your body, including relaxing your nervous system and regulating your hormones. Magnesium can also help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake up feeling refreshed.
Many people do not get enough magnesium from their diet, and this can lead to poor sleep quality and insomnia. Taking magnesium supplements or applying magnesium balm to your skin can boost your magnesium levels and enhance your sleep. One of the best ways to use magnesium balm is to apply it to your feet before bedtime, as this can help you absorb the mineral better and relax your muscles.
Some of my clients with menopause symptoms swear by magnesium balm and say they sleep like a baby after using it. They also report feeling less anxious, depressed, and irritable, which are common mood changes associated with menopause. If you are interested in trying magnesium balm or learning more about its benefits, you can visit my website or contact me for more information.
I hope this has been helpful and inspiring for you. Thank you for reading and happy World Menopause Day!
